MacQueen’s Bike Shop & MacQueen’s Island Tours is a family-operated company based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. MacQueen’s has been catering to cyclists on P.E.I. since 1977 with PEI’s largest and most fully-equipped pro shop and service department. Our retail bicycle business naturally evolved into a unique adventure travel company specializing in independent, guided and custom designed bicycle holidays. MacQueen’s Island Tours offers supported independent cycle tours in PEI in the summer and, since 1994, guided group cycle tour programs in Cuba in the winter with our trade name WoWCuba. Over the years, our company has appeared in major publications such as the Globe & Mail, Outside Magazine, New York Times, Toronto Star, Bicycling Cuba, Bicycling Magazine, Granma, the Lonely Planet & Moon Handbook guidebooks, Pedal Magazine and more.
Company founder Gordon MacQueen was a trailblazer in adventure tourism. His dedication and commitment to the development of the Confederation Trail on Prince Edward Island was instrumental in its completion, and today the trail is an invaluable health & recreational resource for locals and visitors alike. In the early 1990’s a trip to Cuba sparked interest in developing a winter-based cycling touring program in the emerging Caribbean destination and operations began in 1994 in Santiago de Cuba. Little did he know that this decision would change the course of the company and result in the marriage of two of his children to Cuban spouses, and that we would morph into the leading and most experienced cycle tour operator in Cuba, traveling between and sharing our love and intimate knowledge of our two favorite islands with fellow cyclists and visitors.
