Rental & Shuttle Reservation Information

Rental Costs: Your bicycle rental cost covers equipment as described, and adjustments to the equipment by our staff upon outfitting.

Rental Reservations: MacQueen’s Bike Shop & Island Tours accepts and recommends reservations for rental periods of a minimum three days from June to September. Priority for our touring equipment is given to visitors requesting multi-day rentals. To request equipment reservations, please complete our secure online Rental Request Form and we’ll be back to you asap to confirm availability. A $100 CAD deposit (Visa or Mastercard) is required per bicycle, to be processed upon confirmation of equipment availability.

Rental Security Deposit & Final Payment:  Your reservation deposit will be applied in full to the amount of your rental upon opening the rental contract. Payment for your pre-determined rental period must be negotiated in full before equipment is released into your possession. A $200 CAD refundable security deposit is required per piece of equipment upon delivery of equipment, refundable upon the prompt/scheduled return of equipment in the same condition in which it was rented. Security deposits may be negotiated in cash for the full equipment value, or via a pre-authorization on the client’s Visa/Mastercard credit card (recommended) upon opening the rental contract. In the event equipment is stolen or damaged, the renter named in the rental contract will be responsible for its retail replacement value.

50% (of pre-tax rate) required upon booking. Due 72 hours prior to the delivery of service. MacQueen’s reserves the right to release any services (with no applicable refunds) if payment is not able to be  completed by this deadline.

Depending on availability, should your travel itinerary be altered, it may be possible to re-program your confirmed transfer services to an alternative date in the same season.

Adjustment Notification Received in Writing Action Associated Fees

You will be delayed arriving at the scheduled pickup location/time and provided less than 24 hours notice to MacQueen’s staff. If the driver indicates he/she has no prior schedule conflicts preventing them from awaiting your arrival, then an alternate time can be arranged. A $40 CAD/hour supplementary late fee applies if you are delayed for any reason in arriving as planned to the appointed pickup time/location and our staff is able to delay the service initiation on your behalf.
Failure to be present at the appointed pickup location/time/date with no prior notification Service is forfeited 100% forfeiture of payment

Shipping your own bike / MacQueen’s Bicycle Mechanics

Professional mechanics are on duty at our shop from Monday to Saturday. If assembly or repairs are required prior to departure, advance notice may be required. When leaving your bike to be packed at MacQueen’s for outbound shipping, leave a telephone or email contact to be advised when the packing is complete and then proceed with ongoing shipping.

Bike boxes: $5.00 CAD + HST
Bike assembly or packing service: $40.00 CAD
Shipping services: Please arrange for your own independent shipping services and provide completed packing labels for any outgoing boxes.

Rental Cancellation Policy:

  • 50% forfeiture of your reservation deposit plus banking fees – when written notification of cancellation is received 15 or more days prior to initiation of service
  • 100% forfeiture of your reservation deposit – when written notification of cancellation is received fewer than 15 days prior to initiation of service.
  • 15% HST applies to forfeiture amount + banking fees for all cancelled services.

Banking Fees:

  • A 5% processing fee applies to credit card refunds

Travel/Cancellation Insurance:

We do not sell travel or theft insurance. If interested in acquiring travel or other insurance coverage for rental equipment, we recommend purchasing it locally in your province/state/country of residence, or alternatively checking into options with these insurance companies with local offices in PEI:

The Fine Print:

MacQueen’s Bike Shop & Island Tours assumes no responsibility, however caused, for injury, loss or damage to person or property in connection with any service resulting directly from the following: acts of God, detention, annoyance, terrorism, thefts, pilferage, civil disturbances, government restrictions or regulations, strikes, delays and expenses arising from quarantine, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, discrepancies or change in transit or accommodation services over which we have no control or other financial loss whether to persons or property arising out of certain risks and danger which may occur during your holiday, including but not limited to the hazards of activities in general. Our contract is for rental only and not for sale of equipment. The renter agrees that he/she will rent the items(s) herein requested and that they will at all times remain the property of the rental agent named in the rental contract, that he/she will examine the said item(s) upon delivery, and return them in the same condition as when rented, by the stipulated date/time of return, that he/she will pay all charges for said item promptly when due, and that in the event equipment is stolen or damaged, the renter named in the rental contract will be responsible for its retail replacement value, and the rental agent is hereby released from all claims arising therefrom. All charges are based on the time the item is in the renter’s possession whether in use or not. The rental agent is not responsible for accidents or injuries caused directly or indirectly in the use of the rented item.
