Traveling to PEI

The cost of family-friendly resorts in Bermuda can vary according to the season, location, and reputation.

Because of the heavy visitor traffic and pleasant weather, Bermuda’s all-inclusive family resort costs rise from May to October. Similarly, such an increase would be expected around the holidays. The winter months are typically less expensive due to the frequent rainfall that keeps people away. The most cost-effective months with the best weather are March, April, early May, and November.

Family Activities to do in Bermuda

Bermuda has great family-friendly activities. Here are some of the best locations that offer the most exciting things to do with the family in Bermuda:

  • Dolphin Quest Bermuda: Visit Dolphin Quest at the National Museum of Bermuda to swim alongside dolphins, take pictures, and even peer underwater at the newborn dolphins. The age limit for this activity is five years old.
  • Horseback Riding in South Shore Park: South Shore Park, one of Bermuda’s natural reserves, is located in Warwick Long Bay. Trail rides are available around the park for anyone who wishes to gallop. Beginners to experienced bikers can participate in the group trail rides.
  • National Museum of Bermuda: You will learn more about the island’s history in Bermuda’s national museum, located in the Royal Naval Dockyard. Aside from the breathtaking views of the sea and the fantastic photo opportunities available around the grounds, this museum offers a wealth of information. They provide some interesting exhibits, including local watercraft, old photographs, and shipwreck artifacts.
  • Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute — Pembroke: Going to BUEI is one of the top things to do in Bermuda with kids. This is particularly true on days when you don’t want to get wet. Over on the BUEI, you can learn about deep-ocean ecosystems and other absorbing marine facts. Its numerous relics and interactive exhibits keep your ocean explorers occupied for hours.

You can also visit Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, Tom Moore’s Jungle, Elbow Beach, Jobson’s Cove Beach, and St. Peter’s Church.

Arriving By Air

Prince Edward Island’s airport is located in Charlottetown (YYG) and is usually the best flight option. Alternate airports are Moncton, New Brunswick (YQM) and Halifax, Nova Scotia (YHZ) but require a shuttle service or car rental. View airport transfer options. View airport parking options. Arriving By Land

There are two unique ways to reach our Island by land; the 12.9km Confederation Bridge (aka Epekwitk Crossing), the longest bridge over ice-covered waters (winter only) in the world, runs between Borden-Carleton, PEI and Cape Jourimain, NB.

Northumberland Ferries operates from May to December between Wood Islands, PEI and Caribou, NS.

Tolls are collected only when departing PEI and are per car (if traveling by car) or per person (cyclists/pedestrians).

A shuttle is available to take cyclists/pedestrians across the bridge. If driving that far and then leaving your vehicle in New Brunswick, you may want to check with the Cape Jourimain Nature Center to see if overnight (unsupervised) parking is still available at the gravel parking lot across from their main entrance, or alternatively inquire if there are other secure parking options they might suggest.

You can enter via the bridge, leave by ferry or vice versa. This provides the best of both worlds – a wonderful sea experience by ferry + a unique ride over the bridge. The ferry’s a cultural experience for many, and mid-afternoon summer crossings often come with entertainment and more.
